How to use Jenolite

How to get a professional finish

This original formulation is where the jenolite story begins. The products are easy to apply and there is no need to rinse off.
Good preparation is the key to a perfect finish. So begin by removing any grease, dirt and loose rust or flaking paint.

Then it’s a few simple steps…

Rust remover

  1. Apply Jenolite Rust Remover directly to the rust.
  2. Work into the surface for up to 5 minutes.
  3. Leave to dry for 25 minutes at room temperature, longer if colder.
  4. Work off the blackened rust with a damp cloth, wire wool, wirebrush or circular brush on a drill.
  5. Get back to bare metal in all areas.
  6. If unsure apply a second application, and repeat process.
  7. A light covering of liquid can be applied to the bare metal (if being left unpainted) as a protective layer.
  8. Prime using Jenolite Primer and paint on a top coat if possible for extra protection.

Rust converter

  1. Apply Jenolite Rust Converter directly to the rust.
  2. Work into the surface for up to 5 minutes.
  3. Leave to dry for between 3-4 hours at room temperature, longer if colder.
  4. The top layer of rust will be converted into a purple or black passive inert layer that can be left or if required painted over with a primer and/or top coat.
