Description
Jenolite Koldblak produces a protective black oxide coating on steel surfaces and is used as a safer alternative to hot caustic processes. The coating is integral with the surface, meaning there is no dimensional change. Koldblak is ideal for small and large volume users alike.
Available in a variety of sizes.
How To Use
Remove all traces of oil or grease. Remove old paint and loose rust with steel wool or wire brush.
-
DEGREASE
Ensure that the surface is completely free from rust & corrosion. Once this has been achieved the material should be degreased using solvents.
-
MIX
Using a plastic container, mix a solution of Koldblak with 25% concentration (three volumes of water and one of koldblak) at room temperature (15-25°C). Once mixed, immerse the item for a period of 5 – 15 minutes.
-
RINSE
After the allotted time, rinse the surface with clean water for 30 seconds to stop the reaction.
-
PROTECT
Once dry, you can protect the finish using a water repellent of your choice, such as paraffin wax or an alternative oil-based product. The blackening layer fully cures after 24 hours.
